But if you saw the movie first, there's a lot of it that gets left out and it's hard to understand.

Uh like I said earlier, you know, like a lot of the world building we get is Katniss's dialogue, like inner thoughts and dialogues, and she explains things to us, especially the three-finger salute, where they're like, well, okay, this is you know, our fuck you to the capital, which I don't think comes across until we see District Riot, District 11 riot, and we see them all giving that symbol.

See, I don't know. I I disagree. I think that they both work separately because we get the um the scenes of the like background stuff um in the movie and not in the book. And like when I was reading the book, I always thought, like, well, Katniss doesn't really know. That is something I think the film did really well, is to show us like Hamich actively working to get them sponsors and the control room to show us that like the the monitoring is so close. It's not just to see that they're dead yet. They're like, oh, she's near the edge of the arena, we need to push her away. And we don't get that in the book, so I love that outside of it.

Because a popular um film technique when they're like, well, we can't wait till nightfall, it is called day as night, and they put this ridiculous filter on it, and it looks terrible. And if you're watching it in the daytime, you can't see anything. And if you're watching it, it's uh yes, as producer Rob points out, it's good for silhouettes. But that's kind of it. Like Game of Thrones used it a lot. They were like, you know what? It's nighttime now. Here's our special filter, and then the audience is just like, yeah, we can tell it's a filter and it looks terrible.

And like, especially with like a lot of modern films and shows, it's just they are also editing on these high-power machines, you know, whose settings are entirely different than what your average person might have at home. I'm really glad it was made in this era too, because it was the era of like, we're gonna kind of use CGI, but like still make things, and like the CGI's gonna add, not here's you and a green screen, and we're just gonna that is such a great point because like that and the Harry Potter films, and although I'm like loath to bring that comparison in because JK Rowling sucks, uh, but it was still a mix of practical effects and special effects, and that's what really makes that feel like we're in that and makes it feel more realistic, even though it's absolutely you know insane. But you know what?
